WITH millions of invoices flowing in and out of companies every day, an Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) seems incomplete without a module that can handle this immense amount of paperwork. Monitor Industriutveckling AB, which develops and markets an ERP system called MONITOR for small-to-medium manufacturing companies, needed a paper-saving component to add value to their ERP system and keep up with industry demands.

When looking for an imaging toolkit to work with, Monitor was in search of a toolkit that had a .NET based component and one which would easily integrate with their existing ERP system. With Atalasoft’s .NET-native technology and annotations that conform to industry standard format, Monitor found just what they were looking for. When asked to describe why they ultimately chose Atalasoft, Tobias Carlsson of Monitor replied simply, “Good technology for annotations that worked better than competitors.”
Using DotImage, Monitor created a new module in their current ERP system that handles scanning, annotating, and final coding of invoices. After receiving an invoice, a company is able to scan the invoice into their system then proceed to view, annotate, and store or e-mail the invoice using only one product.
“We use classes from the Atalasoft.Twain namespace to choose a scanner, get and change settings on the scanner, and scan the invoice,” said Tobias Carlsson of Monitor Industriutveckling AB. “Atalasoft.Imaging is used to rotate, make annotations, save TIFF files with annotation and view the scanned invoices. We use different zooming capabilities: ’Ordinary’ zoom, area zoom, and the magnifier.”
After taking only one year to implement, as of the first quarter of 2008, Monitor’s module for electronic invoice management has been sold to over 100 corporate customers. Monitor’s customers are now able to better organize and keep track of their invoices by leveraging the scanning, annotating, and archiving features powered by Atalasoft technology.
